We base emissions ratings on the Green Vehicle Guide produced by the federal Government's Department of Climate Change.
Next we offset 100% of your car's greenhouse gas emissions for the life of your loan. We do this via mecu 's Conservation Landbank on your behalf.^
automatic salary crediting
You can have all or part of your salary automatically distributed to your various mecu accounts. Making your loan repayments is made easy, as each time your salary is credited to your accounts, your loan repayments are automatically paid.
pre-purchase approval
You can apply for a pre-purchase approval online, over the phone by calling 132 888, or in person at your local service centre. Apply for the maximum amount that you wish to borrow and you’ll generally get an answer within 48 hours. Pre-approval is provided for three months from the pre-approval start date.
flexible repayments
Making repayments on your loan is easy. You can select from weekly, fortnightly or monthly contracted repayments. Coinciding your repayments with your salary will ensure your repayments are made by the due date. You can make extra unscheduled payments at any time without penalty too!

^mecu forward credits offsets for greenhouse gas emissions produced by your car each year for the term of the loan. The level of offset is in accordance with advice from Landcare CarbonSMART that the average car in Australia produces 4 tCO2-e per year. This forward credited offset is provided by mecu planting trees. As these trees grow they will absorb the equivalent amount of tCO2-e required to offset your car emissions during the term of your loan. Trees will be planted into the mecu Conservation Landbank in accordance with the land management plan developed and implemented by Landcare Australia and overseen by Trust for Nature. Carbon sequestered from these trees is monitored and reported by Landcare CarbonSMART. Learn more about how this works.
