The natural environment provides us with the resources required to carry out day-to-day operations. By minimising mecu's impact on the environment, this will help to ensure the Credit Union's sustainability by reducing operating costs and placing less strain on natural resources.
As a financial services provider, mecu recognises that the Credit Union's major environmental impacts are those caused by the human activities supported through products and services offered. These are referred to as ‘indirect environmental impacts'. In line with mecu's commitment to sustainability, the Credit Union continues to develop and provide socially and environmentally responsible product features.
mecu's major direct environmental impacts are caused by energy consumption, travel, paper usage, waste generation, water and land usage. mecu has in place an environment policy regarding mecu's approach to minimising these impacts.
