What happpened to Macaulay Credit Co-op?
Following discussions with the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) and Cuscal (the Credit Union peak industry body) the Board of Macaulay Community Credit Co-operative Limited has been in negotiations with mecu to arrange a transfer of business under the Financial Sector (Transfer of Business) Act 1999.
This transfer was effective as of 16th June 2008.
The Board of Macaulay recognised that increased competition and a more challenging regulatory environment in the Australian financial services sector has heightened the need for it to ensure the long term sustainability of the credit union and the need to continue serving all members.
